Fracture of the navicular bone / finger

1. Risk kinds of sport:

Slot and roller skate driving, Skaten, bicycle driving, Mountainbiking

2. Anatomy:

Small bone within the hand root range.

3. Function:

Movement of the wrist in the directions.

4. Injury mechanism:

- Fall on the stretched hand (e.g. when inline skating or cycling)

5. Symptoms:

- Pressure pain at the wrist thumb side/upsetting pain 1. + 2. Finger
- The injury makes often amazingly few complaints and is often surveyed.

6. First measures:

- Immobilizing
- Cooling concerned the range (with it do not put the ice directly on the skin)

7. Diagnostics:

- Clinical diagnosis by the physician (Roentgen)

8. Therapy: (Caution, frequently lengthily!!!)

a) Conservative therapy
- possibly anti-inflammatory medicines
- with simple fractures by gypsum (6 weeks upper arm + 6 weeks lower arm)
b) Operational therapy
- with fractures within certain ranges of the Scaphoids, or with late recognized breaks, operational measure, there otherwise danger of the bone necrosis increased

9. Physiotherapie/rehablitation:

- Patient gymnastic (Mobilization) after completion of immobilizing
- Electrical therapy

10. Prevention:

- Stretchers of wrist and thumb supports
